Spotlighting Recent Successes

Procurement Services helps everyone adjust to their "new normal" by purchasing 115,000 face masks!

If you've been on campus, you've seen Cyclones sporting facemasks featuring the ISU logo. Thanks to the hard work of Procurement Services and many other departments the competitive bid process was a success.

With the fall semester rapidly approaching, time was a major challenge. The bid needed to be awarded prior to June 30th to allow for production and shipment. Procurement Agent Kelly Freel and Director of Procurement Cory Harms worked closely with:

  • Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management (AESHM)
  • Specialty Business Services and Cultural Arts
  • The Trademark Licensing Office
  • Department of Public Safety
  • Student Government

AESHM wrote facemask specifications, the Trademark Licensing Office ensured all suppliers with trademark rights were included, and all departments were involved in making the final decisions.

The bid was awarded to Competitive Edge and 55,000 masks were ordered for the fall semester plus another 60,000 for spring. Each student received 2 masks and thousands are being made available through the University Book Store for purchase.

If you have a large number of items you would like to purchase, big or small, please reach out to our Procurement Agents so we can assist you with getting the items you need at the best price!

Thank you for working with us to keep the Iowa State community safe!
