If You Experience a Decline, Reach out to the Card Services Team
Declined transactions can be frustrating for cardholders expecting a quick and easy purchasing experience. But if it happens to you, the card services team can help!
Our team has noticed a recent increase in declined transactions on both the P-Card and travel and hospitality (T&H) cards. Many of these declines occurred when U.S. Bank’s automated fraud prevention software detected possible suspicious activity, specifically when the merchant is outside of the United States and their card processor is not verifying the card’s billing address.
While the card services team cannot proactively prevent a card decline, we can assist when U.S. Bank declines a transaction. Other reasons your card may be declined include:
- Entering incorrect payment information, such as the card number, expiration date, or security code.
- Exceeding the monthly cycle limit.
- Exceeding the single purchase limit.
- Purchasing with a merchant that is blocked on the card (for example, hotels, airlines, and hotels with the P-Card).
- Using an expired card.
Please reach out to the card services team at 515-294-7024 or cardservices@iastate.edu if you experience a decline or need assistance using your card.
