The 2024 Procurement Services Key Contributor Awards were presented to Lisa Thomas and Stacy Sassman during an awards ceremony on April 29th, 2025.
This annual award was created to recognize Procurement Services Employees who have positively impacted the mission and vision of Procurement Services at Iowa State University. Including those who have made a significant contribution towards improving a process or procedure, have been an essential component in completing a complex project or solving a complex problem, have demonstrated dedication to cultivating their professional knowledge and expertise, have introduced innovative ideas, or have had a positive impact through their dedication to job excellence.
Lisa Thomas has been honored with the Procurement Services' Key Contributor Award for her exceptional leadership in developing and coordinating the Supplier Award program. This program, which recognizes suppliers for their excellent service, support, and collaboration with the University, was launched by Lisa in 2021.
Lisa's dedication to the program is evident in her thorough annual reviews and continuous improvements. Her proactive approach and meticulous attention to detail ensure the program's ongoing success.
Lisa manages all outreach to suppliers and ISU faculty and staff, ensuring a broad and well-represented pool of nominations. She coordinates the Supplier Award evaluation team, scheduling meetings, delegating tasks, and providing support to keep the process efficient and on track.
Once the award winners are determined, Lisa spearheads the planning and execution of the award presentation ceremony. She collaborates with suppliers, service providers, and University leaders to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the awardees.
Lisa's commitment to ethical standards and her ability to foster strong relationships have been key to the program's success. Her efficiency and organization turn nominations into winners within a short timeframe, making her an invaluable asset to the team.

Stacy Sassman has been honored with the Procurement Services' Key Contributor Award for her exceptional leadership in migrating employee gift card orders from a web form to cyBUY. This project resulted in a streamlined process and enhanced visibility of the program.
Stacy's contributions included rebidding the contract for electronic gift cards, modifying and testing the ESM integration and cyBUY requisition and purchase order processes in Workday, monitoring early adopters, and communicating the changes to campus. Her methodical approach to gathering input, feedback, and documenting processes was crucial to the project's success.
Stacy's extensive experience in public procurement ensured a fair, transparent, and accountable bid process, giving all suppliers equal opportunities and confidence in the impartiality of decisions.
Collaboration was key to this project's success. Stacy engaged with a diverse group of employees and suppliers, including the card services team, cyBUY team, finance business analysts, financial and accounting compliance team, procurement communication and marketing team, gift card suppliers, e-procurement platform supplier (ESM), business manager Carole Gill, and tax analyst Matt Devick.
Stacy's leadership, organization, and dedication have been instrumental in the success of the gift card program. Congratulations, Stacy, on this well-deserved recognition! Your efforts set a high standard for excellence in our department.
