What is my role in Procurement Services, and what degree are you working towards at Iowa State?

I am a freshman in Civil Engineering with an Environmental specialization and a student worker in the Procurement Services Department. I do a lot of work remotely, such as forming electronic documents, sending documents through mail, and other small projects on Workday or Excel that need to be worked on.  
 

How do you see your employment in Procurement Services benefiting you in the future? 

Working in Procurement Services is something I never really thought of doing initially since it isn't exactly my major, but this experience is something I will definitely take with me wherever I go in the future. I didn't have any experience in this field going into working here, so I've been able to learn a lot about how documents are handled and created, and it is fun learning the "behind the scenes" of what goes on in Procurement

What is my role in Procurement Services, and what degree are you working towards at Iowa State?

My role in Procurement Services as a student has revolved around supporting various administrative and operational tasks. My day-to-day has included tasks such as helping distribute tax-exempt certificates, updating supplier payment types, cyBUY PCV verification, and assisting with keeping records of certificates of insurance. I’ve worked on projects such as providing helpful analysis for annual surveys, updating supplier contact information, and updating supplier records. I am currently working towards a B.S. in Business Analytics and Management Information Systems and will be graduating in December 2025.
